Melanie’s business background and exposure to leadership and management across many industry sectors, has given her a passion for executive coaching and a keen understanding of leadership development. Her role as Executive Coach with the Stephenson Mansell Group enables her to utilise her considerable experience and enthusiasm to assist executives in realising their career goals, broaden individual leadership capabilities and become high performance leaders in their chosen field.

 

Melanie enjoyed a successful professional career in several sectors within the banking and finance industry for more than 20 years. During her career in banking, she held the position of Associate Director, in both Project & Structured Finance, and in Institutional Banking. She developed a significant portfolio in the health sector, gaining major corporate relationships and a strong understanding of the Australian health industry. Her finance career also included a role as a management consultant with developing companies, insurance groups and providing financing advice for government trading enterprises in several business areas and developing financing strategies for major NSW government assets. Her banking expertise covered major industry sectors including resources, construction, manufacturing, technology, and telecommunications companies, and across all areas of financing techniques.

 

Melanie approaches coaching with a focus firstly on the individual’s background, current needs, and their understanding of current and future personal and organisational development directions and requirements. She has a strong interest in coaching for clarity of purpose, team motivation and developing influencing skills for relationship building. She is particularly keen to assist and motivate her clients to ensure a balance between personal and career objectives. Balancing individual strengths with a focus on areas for development truly builds higher self-knowledge, and Melanie believes that if leadership behaviours are valued within an organisation, development of leadership through both individual coaching and team programs will provide clarity, motivation and achievement of these goals.

 

Currently Melanie is undertaking many coaching assignments designed to develop several individuals within an executive team, to concurrently build their leadership capabilities and thus change the culture of the organisation. In recent years, Melanie has facilitated leadership transformation programs for major property and manufacturing companies, within which she coached senior executives, designed and co-facilitated a series of team workshops, and attended executive meetings to coach and extend team skills. Most of Melanie’s focus is on individual coaching of senior executive teams across a range of business and government sectors, and her own business background gives her key insights into the structure and difficulties within these organisations.

 

Melanie has worked and achieved results with a range of organisations and senior leadership teams in Australia, including the major banks, law firms, and top 100 ASX companies, eg, CBA, Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Campbell Arnotts, NRMA, Office of State Revenue, Westpac,  NAB, Optus, Westfield and Bilfinger Berger.
