Tony Williams has had a long and distinguished career at Chief Executive level in the international pharmaceutical and health care fields. His particular areas of expertise cover leadership, strategic planning, market entry strategies and results-directed organisation development and capacity building.
After returning to Australia in the latter part of 1997, Tony established Asia Pacific Australia Strategic Consulting to provide consulting, problem solving and strategic advice to pharmaceutical, health care and other business interests in Australia, China, Hong Kong and other countries in the region.
Tony also served for 9 years as Chief Executive of The CEO Circle, a business dedicated to mentoring of CEOs and senior executives of large organisations.
Immediately before returning to Australia, Tony was working as Group General Manager with a privately owned company, which operates medical clinics in Hong Kong and China and provides insured medical services.
Prior to that assignment Tony had four years as Managing Director, Upjohn Suzhou Pharmaceutical Company Ltd., responsible for setting up the China joint venture pharmaceutical manufacturing business of The Upjohn Company Inc. (later, Pharmacia & Upjohn Inc.). He was also involved in assisting the establishment of the animal health products joint venture factory for the Company in China. He also managed TUC export business to China.
Before going to China, Tony served for five years as Managing Director of the then Upjohn Company’s businesses in Australia and also with responsibility for the New Zealand business. He also served as a Director of the Perth-based company Delta West Pty Ltd, which Upjohn acquired in 1991. He was also responsible for business divestment and product licensing.
As well as China, Tony has worked in Indonesia, Britain and the US and has worked with and trained senior executive colleagues from Japan, Philippines, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.
Over the years he has gained significant exposure to management education and training internationally. He has served on the Boards of Directors of companies in Australia and overseas and had oversight of structural and cultural changes.
Tony has been an invited speaker at international conferences in China and Hong Kong and has been active in industry, professional and community organisations and charities.
