Rob has an extensive background in executive leadership, team development and program management.
As a Senior Trade Commissioner for much of his career Rob was a key contributor to Australia’s international export and foreign investment promotion programmes.
In the mid 1990’s, Rob led Australia’s Professional Film Services marketing programs in Los Angeles where he was Consul General and Senior Trade Commissioner.
In 1998, Rob was seconded to Sydney Olympics’ Invest 2000 working with the Games’ major sponsors to develop a business development and direct investment attraction platform using major sporting events as the catalyst.
Rob has also worked in the Middle East, Indonesia, Taiwan and Mexico.
During the early 1990’s the corporatisation of Austrade meant Rob gained significant change management experience. During this period, he attended an Advanced Management Program at Macquarie Graduate School of Management, providing him with extensive management and leadership training.
Rob’s international experience allowed him to develop and embed in his people management and leadership skills necessary for success in constantly changing environments, with technological innovation, new geographies, new institutions, and new types of organisations. It is this as a result of this background that Rob developed a passion for coaching as a way to enhance personal and professional performance.
Rob’s particular areas of expertise cover leadership, strategic planning, market entry strategies and managing industry programs with multiple industry and government stakeholders.
Since leaving government in 2002 Rob has taught management and developed and managed professional development training programs, preparing post graduate students for the work force. He currently teaches international business and export management at QUT’s Faculty of Business.
Rob continues to consult both with the Federal and Queensland government agencies on the delivery of export promotion programs and directly with Queensland businesses helping leaders deliver strategies that enhance the performance of their organisations.
