David Simpson is a seasoned former CEO with extensive management experience in North America, Asia, Africa and Australia. Since 2008 he has devoted himself to the mentoring and development of other CEOs, senior executives and management teams. His goal is to help his clients become more effective leaders and enjoy better balance in their lives.
David has served on the board of Cogstate (an ASX listed biotech) for six years sitting on the Audit and Compliance Committee as well as the Remuneration and Nomination Committee. He has recently become a NED for Axon Sports a US-Australian joint venture.
He has extensive experience in communication, marketing, strategic planning and team building. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and holds a BA from Bishops University in Canada. He has also done graduate studies at the London School of Economics.
As the average tenure of executives becomes shorter and pressures of global competition mount, senior management is expected to do more with fewer support mechanisms in place. Access to an external mentor who based on past experience can challenge the executive’s thinking and provide objective non-judgmental guidance is a valuable asset. David believes his ability to build trust and openness with his clients through active listening, lateral thinking and empathetic questioning is critical to successful coaching relationships.
In the past year, David has lead a strategic board retreat for a major medical group in which he coached the owner directors and senior management on proper governance and long term planning. He has also designed and facilitated a series of “The Rest of Your Life” workshops for company owners and CEOs to help address their personal goals and balance of life issues. David has also undertaken a brand identity and awareness building assignment for a major tertiary institution in Melbourne.
David has worked with and achieved results with a range of organisations and senior leadership teams in Australia and the US including the National Australia Bank, Kraft, the Melbourne Symphony, Monash University, Parks Victoria, the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO).
